Midnight launched worldwide March 2, 2026. This page is updated as new content details become available.
World of Warcraft: Midnight is the eleventh expansion for WoW and the second chapter of the Worldsoul Saga — a planned trilogy of interconnected expansions led by Creative Director Chris Metzen. It was announced at Gamescom in August 2025 and launched worldwide on March 2, 2026.
Midnight follows The War Within (2024) and will be followed by The Last Titan (TBD). It returns players to the elven kingdom of Quel'Thalas for a battle between the forces of Light and Void.
Midnight went live worldwide on March 2, 2026 at 3:00 PM PST. Players who purchased the Epic Edition received three days of early access starting February 27, 2026.
Housing Early Access was available to all expansion purchasers from December 2, 2025, during the Midnight Prologue "The Warning" pre-patch event. The full pre-patch launched January 20, 2026.
After the events of The War Within, Xal'atath — who briefly allied with the heroes of Azeroth to stop the voidlord Dimensius — has turned against them. Now the Void Harbinger leads a full invasion into Quel'Thalas, intent on corrupting the Sunwell, Azeroth's most powerful beacon of Light, and plunging the world into eternal darkness.
Players must return to the blood elf homelands, rally scattered elven tribes, earn the trust of the ancient and reclusive Haranir people, and ultimately venture into the chaos of the Voidstorm to confront Xal'atath and her voidborn legions. Key lore figures include Lor'themar Theron, Lady Liadrin, and Arator.
The Worldsoul Saga is a planned three-part expansion arc focused on the fate of Azeroth's worldsoul — the dormant titan sleeping within the planet. Each expansion escalates the threat:
- Chapter I — The War Within (2024): Underground threats beneath Azeroth's surface.
- Chapter II — Midnight (2026): The Void assaults Quel'Thalas and the Sunwell.
- Chapter III — The Last Titan (TBD): The conclusion of the arc — details yet to be revealed.
- Base Edition — $49.99: Standard expansion access. Leveling to 90, all zones, and base features.
- Heroic Edition — $69.99: Everything in Base plus exclusive cosmetic bonuses and in-game items.
- Epic Edition — $89.99: Everything in Heroic plus mounts, pets, Midnight-themed housing decor (Light-Infused and Void-Corrupted Rotundas and Fountains, four character paintings), the Voidlight Surger flying mount, an Enhanced Level 80 Character Boost, 30 days of game time, beta access, and three days of early access.
The level cap is 90, raised from 80 in The War Within. Players gain 10 new talent points including new Apex Talents available starting at level 81, which push characters deeper into their specialization fantasy and provide significant endgame power.
Midnight launches with four zones. Players begin in Eversong Woods, then can tackle the remaining three in any order:
- Eversong Woods: The starting zone. Healed from the Scourge's devastation and now teeming with life — but threatened by Void forces, the Lightbloom magical overgrowth, and the Amani troll clan. Includes the fully rebuilt Silvermoon City.
- Zul'Aman: The original Classic raid expanded into a fully-fledged open world zone with flight supported. Ancient stone ruins draped in moss, vibrant jungles, and waterfalls. Explore the ancestral troll empire alongside Zul'jarra and Zul'jan, children of Zul'jin. Includes a fast-paced Abundance gathering event.
- Harandar: A primordial, fungal jungle built around the roots of Azeroth's World Trees — home of the Haranir. Glowing mushrooms, bioluminescent caves, mossy bridges, and a world of living roots. Earn the Haranir's trust here to unlock them as a playable race.
- The Voidstorm: Xal'atath's domain — a chaotic zone of void-scarred gorges, towering Nexus-Points, and the Voidscar Arena. The final chapter of Midnight's leveling story unfolds here. Also home to the Slayer's Rise battleground.
Eversong Woods, Zul'Aman, and Silvermoon City are now part of the Eastern Kingdoms proper — no loading screen required.
Silvermoon City has been completely rebuilt from the ground up for the first time since The Burning Crusade, and now functions as the main hub for the entire Midnight expansion. Key changes:
- Full flight support — Skyriding works throughout the city.
- Two-thirds of the city is accessible to both Horde and Alliance for the duration of the Void crisis.
- One-third remains Horde-exclusive. The city still belongs to the Horde.
- Notable landmarks include the rebuilt Sanctum of Light.
- Seamlessly connected to the Eastern Kingdoms — no loading screen.
The Prey System is a new open-world hunt feature in Midnight. Players track powerful targets through the zones in three escalating difficulties — Normal, Hard, and Nightmare. At higher difficulties the dynamic flips: you are also hunted in return. Rewards include mounts, cosmetics, and housing decor items. Think of it as a more dynamic, reversible version of the Legion Remix world tier system.
Player Housing is one of WoW's most requested features ever — now fully live in Midnight. Here is how it works:
- Purchase a home and establish your Neighborhood — move in with friends, guildmates, or a private community.
- Decorate freely using 3D freeform or grid-based placement tools. Rotate, stack, and layer items exactly where you want them.
- Dye furniture and display trophies earned from raids, quests, crafting, and achievements.
- Collect decor from gameplay, professions, vendors, and the in-game store.
- Take part in Neighborhood Endeavors — community activities that make neighborhoods feel alive.
- Housing Early Access launched December 2, 2025 for expansion purchasers. Full features went live on March 2, 2026.
Devourer is a brand-new third specialization for Demon Hunters — the first new DH spec in WoW history, introduced in the Midnight pre-patch. It is fundamentally different from Havoc and Vengeance:
- Role: Mid-range DPS.
- Power source: Void instead of Fel — soul-harvesting and fragment consumption mechanics.
- Signature ability: Void Scythe — used for ranged strikes, cone slams, and melee spin attacks.
- New Hero Talent tree: Annihilator — shared with Vengeance DH.
- Devourer also gains access to the Scarred Hero Talent tree (formerly Fel Scarred).
- Void Elf Demon Hunters are now playable for the first time, unlocked via a short pre-patch questline.
Apex Talents are a new tier of talents unlocked as you level from 81 to 90. Your 10 new points break down as follows:
- 3 points in your Class tree (no new nodes — more flexibility in existing ones).
- 3 points in your Hero Talent tree (a fourth lane added for each spec).
- 4 points in your Specialization tree, spent on Apex Talents specifically.
Apex Talents represent the deepest expression of your spec's identity and are the primary endgame power upgrade in Midnight.
Midnight overhauls transmog significantly:
- Save appearances to a specific gear slot — quest rewards while leveling no longer overwrite your current look.
- Save and name full outfit sets and switch between them anywhere via your action bar — no vendor visit required.
- Outfit slots are unlocked with gold but switching is free once unlocked.
- Class set and raid weapon appearances unlock after items are fully upgraded to 6/6.
- A 4-piece class set bonus now grants a Feat of Strength that drops Catalyst charges from raid bosses, M+, Bountiful Delves, and Rated PvP for the rest of the season.
Midnight includes a sweeping UI overhaul:
- Built-in damage meters — configurable within the base UI, no addon required.
- Improved nameplates and a cleaner personal resource HUD.
- Cleaner raid frames with expanded display-scaling controls.
- New Journeys tab in the Adventure Guide — a meaningful way to track in-game progress.
- Cooldown Manager improvements and better Boss Alert customization.
- PvP Training Grounds — practice against AI opponents in Arathi Basin, Silvershard Mines, and Battle for Gilneas before entering live PvP.
- A new Arcantina tavern hub for returning players to catch up with familiar characters and get back into the story.
The Haranir are an ancient, enigmatic people who pre-date many of Azeroth's oldest races. First encountered briefly during The War Within, they take center stage in Midnight's Harandar zone. They have a primeval look — bioluminescent markings, glowing eyes, and an earthy aesthetic shaped by life among the World Tree roots.
- Faction: Neutral — can join either Horde or Alliance once unlocked.
- How to unlock: Pick up the starting quest in Silvermoon City, then complete the full Harandar zone campaign at max level.
- Available classes: Druid, Hunter, Mage, Monk, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, Warrior.
- Druid forms are unique to the Haranir, tied to their fungal-jungle theme.
- Extensive cosmetic customizations including bioluminescent paint patterns on face and body.
Midnight ships with 8 dungeons — 4 leveling dungeons and 4 max-level dungeons. Notable entries include the reimagined Magister's Terrace and new story-relevant instances like Murder Row and Voidscar Arena.
All 8 are available in Mythic 0 from launch day (on weekly lockout until Season 1 on March 17, then daily lockout). Dungeon access is unlocked by picking up the associated story quest during leveling, or automatically at level 90 — whichever comes first. Season 1 adds 4 new and 4 returning fan-favourite dungeons to the Mythic+ pool.
Season 1 features 3 raids across 9 bosses total. They unlock on a staggered schedule:
- The Voidspire — Normal, Heroic, and LFR Wing 1 opened March 17. Mythic and LFR Wing 2 opened March 24.
- The Dreamrift — Normal and Heroic opened March 17. Mythic opened March 24.
- March on Quel'Danas — Normal, Heroic, and Mythic opened March 31. Story Mode and full LFR opened April 7.
Season 1 also introduces four rotating world bosses: Lu'ashal, Cragpine, Thorm'belan, and Predaxas — one active each week once Season 1 begins.
Mythic+ Season 1 began March 24, 2026 — one week after Season 1 launched March 17. The Mythic+ pool is a mix of 4 new Midnight dungeons and 4 returning fan-favourites. Dungeon titles are available for players who complete the highest keystone level each week. The Mage Tower is now a max-level-only experience, rebalanced for all specs.
Midnight has 12 new Delves plus one Nemesis Delve — the hardest Delve challenge in the expansion. Delves are designed for solo or small-group play and are perfect for players who want endgame rewards without the commitment of raiding or Mythic+.
The new Delve companion is Valeera Sanguinar, the legendary Blood Elf rogue, replacing Brann Bronzebeard for this expansion. Wild pets in Midnight zones also no longer require battling to capture. Bountiful Delves (the high-reward weekly version) unlock with Season 1 on March 17.

Midnight follows a fast live-service model with regular updates:
- Patch 12.0.5: Void Assaults open-world event + a casual Prop Hunt mode in major cities.
- Patch 12.1: A new outdoor zone, a new raid tier, updated seasonal rewards, Mythic+ pool rotation, social and UI improvements.
- Patch 12.1.5: Labyrinths — a brand-new standalone instanced mode.
Slayer's Rise is Midnight's new epic battleground — a 40v40 battle set in the Voidstorm zone, inspired by Alterac Valley and Isle of Conquest, focused on control and conquest. Players with War Mode on can also engage in outdoor World PvP in the Voidstorm.
PvP Season 1 launched March 17, 2026. The new PvP Training Grounds lets new players practice in AI-controlled versions of Arathi Basin, Silvershard Mines, and Battle for Gilneas, building confidence before entering live PvP.
Midnight revamps the profession system with new Moxie currencies replacing the shared Artisan's Acuity from The War Within. Each profession now has its own Artisan Moxie currency, preventing point hoarding across multiple crafts. Quality ranks were also simplified from three to two — Silver and Gold.
Here's how the professions shake out at launch:
- Alchemy (Gold making): The most consistent gold earner. Every raider needs flasks, every Mythic+ runner needs potions, and cauldrons stay in demand all season. Reliable income from day one.
- Herbalism & Mining (Gold farming): The safest early-expansion income. New Midnight herbs and ores are in constant demand for consumables and crafting. Lumber is a new expansion-exclusive gathering resource used in housing decor crafting — a significant early gold driver.
- Enchanting (Gold making): Strong and steady. Every geared character needs enchants, and the market never truly dries up.
- Inscription (Gold making): Reliable across the season via missives, codices, and Darkmoon Cards.
- Tailoring, Leatherworking, Blacksmithing (Housing economy): Player Housing introduced an entirely new tradeable decor economy. Crafted furniture — Thalassian wood pieces, void-touched lighting, Sunwell-themed ornaments — can sell for tens of thousands of gold early in the expansion before supply catches up.
- Engineering: Useful gadgets, personal cooldowns, and some of the best quality-of-life items in the game. Not top-tier gold but extremely fun and practical.
Best overall pick: Alchemy + Herbalism for steady income. For housing economy plays, Tailoring or Leatherworking paired with Lumber gathering can be extremely lucrative early.
Gold matters more than ever in Midnight thanks to housing decor crafting, revamped professions, and a fresh economy. The best methods depend on your playstyle:
- Gathering (beginner-friendly): Herbalism and Mining are the safest starting point — raw materials are always in demand. Farm Lumber, the new expansion-exclusive housing resource, for especially high early-expansion prices.
- Alchemy crafting: Flask and potion demand is constant throughout the season. One of the most reliable long-term earners.
- Housing decor flipping: Crafted and world-drop decor items trade on the Auction House. Rare pieces from the March on Quel'Danas raid and world drops can sell for massive gold, especially before supply floods the market.
- Auction House flipping: Buy undervalued items and resell for profit. Requires market knowledge but scales extremely well.
- BoE farming: Bind-on-Equip gear drops early in a content cycle can be worth enormous amounts. High variance but high ceiling.
- Consumable crafting: Potions, flasks, enchants, and food buffs sell consistently because progression players buy them every week.
Pro tip: The Warband Bank lets you move materials and gold across your alts efficiently — building a small alt army for daily profession cooldowns can multiply your income without multiplying your time.
If you've been away from WoW for a while, Midnight is one of the stronger cases for coming back. Here's the honest breakdown:
- Player Housing is finally here. This has been one of the most requested features since 2004. It's a fully featured system with real long-term support planned across the entire Worldsoul Saga — not a temporary Garrison-style feature.
- The meta is unusually balanced. Multiple sources note that the tier gap between specs is narrower in Midnight than in recent expansions. You won't be locked out of content for playing your favourite class.
- The story is at a compelling moment. Midnight is the middle chapter of a planned trilogy. The Quel'Thalas setting is visually stunning, Silvermoon has been rebuilt from scratch, and the Void vs. Light narrative is escalating in interesting ways.
- New player and returning player onboarding is improved. The Arcantina tavern hub, a War Within recap questline, and an updated Exile's Reach flow make re-entry easier than previous expansions.
- Content pacing is steady. Blizzard is following a fast live-service patch model — Void Assaults, a new zone, and Labyrinths are all coming in the months after launch.
The honest caveat: If you burned out on WoW systems generally, Midnight adds more of them — Prey, Housing Endeavors, Renown tracks, Apex Talents. It is a content-rich expansion, not a simplified one. But if you left because there wasn't enough to do, Midnight is a very good reason to come back.
WoW has a free trial that lets you play up to level 20 with restrictions — no Auction House, no guilds, no trading, and no access to Midnight content. It's enough to try out classes and get a feel for the game.
To play Midnight you need to purchase the expansion ($49.99 Base) and maintain an active subscription ($14.99/month). However, you can also buy WoW Tokens with in-game gold — currently around 250,000 gold depending on region — to pay for game time without spending real money. This is a popular option for players who can farm gold efficiently.
You don't need to have played The War Within to enjoy Midnight, but some story context helps. Blizzard added a War Within recap questline available in Midnight that walks returning players through the key story beats — who Xal'atath is, what happened with Dimensius, and why the Void is now attacking Quel'Thalas. It takes a couple of hours and is the recommended way to catch up if you missed the previous expansion.
For completely new players, the updated Exile's Reach tutorial flows into Dragonflight and The War Within leveling content before you reach Midnight at level 80.
Midnight's combat overhaul — especially Apex Talents and burst normalization — rewards consistent uptime over explosive cooldown windows. The specs that thrive are those with clean rotations, strong cleave, and minimal downtime. The tier list will shift with balance patches, but here's the picture at Season 1 launch:
- Demonology Warlock (S-tier): The standout DPS of Midnight. Long-lived demons keep damage rolling through movement and mechanics. Strong single-target and cleave. Also provides Hell Stones — a new utility consumable worth significant group value.
- Unholy Death Knight (S-tier): Old Festering Wounds system replaced with a pet-driven, disease-based playstyle. Roughly 90% of output delivered at range now — massive quality-of-life upgrade. Extremely durable and strong across all content types.
- Arcane Mage (S/A-tier): Explosive burst and complete control over damage windows. One of the best group DPS specs due to its predictable, powerful cooldowns.
- Fire Mage (A-tier): High burst, strong in M+ and PvP. Slightly penalized by the burst normalization changes but still excellent.
- Windwalker Monk (A-tier): Received a major damage buff and fits well into Midnight's consistent uptime model.
- Marksmanship Hunter, Affliction Warlock, Balance Druid, Outlaw Rogue (A-tier): All viable, strong in the right situations.
Bottom line: The gap between tiers is narrower in Midnight than recent expansions. Play what you enjoy — personal execution matters more than theory-crafting at most levels of play.
- Restoration Druid (S-tier healer): Strong passive healing, high throughput, flexible cooldown usage. Best overall healer at Season 1 launch.
- Holy Paladin (S-tier healer): Different playstyle to Resto Druid but equally powerful. Strong cooldowns and excellent throughput. Both are top picks — choose based on playstyle preference.
- Mistweaver Monk (S-tier PvP healer): Dominant in PvP thanks to Ancient Teachings providing healing and damage simultaneously.
- Guardian Druid (S-tier tank): Continuous mitigation, excellent self-sustain, competitive damage output.
- Brewmaster Monk (S-tier tank): Survives the hardest pulls and deals competitive DPS. Excellent for high Mythic+ content.
- Protection Paladin (A-tier tank, S-tier PvP): Best PvP tank due to survivability and team protection. Strong in all content.
Not everyone wants to min-max. If you're new, returning after a long break, or just want something that plays smoothly without a steep learning curve:
- Beast Mastery Hunter: Pets do most of the work. Strong solo survivability, simple rotation, excellent for open-world content and Delves. The classic beginner recommendation for good reason.
- Demonology Warlock: S-tier performance AND beginner-accessible. Demon army keeps damage rolling passively. Good solo survivability.
- Havoc Demon Hunter: Fast, mobile, visually satisfying. Very intuitive rotation that rewards momentum. Also has access to the new Devourer spec for those who want to try Void-based gameplay.
- Frost Mage: Clean, visual rotation with clear procs. Good damage, easy to understand, fun in solo content.
- Restoration Shaman (for healing): Straightforward healing toolkit. Strong for players new to the healer role.
- Protection Paladin (for tanking): Forgiving mitigation model, strong self-healing, good for players learning to tank.
Tip: Use the in-game Class Trial feature to test any class at level 80 (up to 8 hours free) before committing.
PvP in Midnight Season 1 rewards burst, control, and survivability. The current S-tier PvP specs are:
- Unholy Death Knight: Dominant presence in all PvP modes. Strong burst, excellent pressure, and plate durability.
- Fire Mage: Highest burst among all DPS specs. The classic arena threat — fire and forget damage spikes.
- Subtlety Rogue: Elite control, high burst windows, top PvP pick alongside Fire Mage.
- Shadow Priest: Strong spread pressure, good sustained damage, feared in 2v2 and Solo Shuffle.
- Mistweaver Monk: Best PvP healer in Midnight — Ancient Teachings healing and damage in one package.
- Protection Paladin: Best PvP tank for objectives and team protection in Battleground Blitz and Slayer's Rise.
The journey from 80 to 90 requires approximately 3.7 million XP. Casual players take 10–15 hours; optimized runs compress to 5–7 hours. Here's the fastest route:
- Follow the campaign first: Start in Eversong Woods, then tackle Zul'Aman, Harandar, or Arator's Journey in any order. The campaign alone gets you to roughly level 85.5–86.
- ⚠️ Voidstorm level gate: The final zone requires level 86. Don't skip side quests entirely in the earlier zones or you'll have to backtrack. A few side quests in Zul'Aman or a short Delve run bridge the gap.
- Delves for supplemental XP: Fast, solo-friendly, and give meaningful XP between campaign chapters. Save your 8 Delver's Call turn-ins until level 88–89 for maximum XP efficiency.
- War Mode: Activate for a 15–25% XP bonus. Low risk during leveling if you play cautiously.
- Warband Mentored Leveling buff: Unlocks automatically once your first character hits 90 — speeds up all alt leveling significantly.
- Darkmoon Faire buff: 10% XP for 1 hour when active, stacks with other bonuses.
- Skip dungeons while leveling: Follower Dungeons are slower due to AI pathing. Campaign + Delves is faster than queuing unless you're in a coordinated group.
Skyriding is available from the very first moment of Midnight — no Glyphs or unlocks required. Use it constantly to cut travel time.
Once your main hits 90, alt leveling becomes dramatically faster:
- Skip the campaign: Alts can skip the full storyline once your main completes it. This saves ~40 minutes immediately.
- Warband Mentored Leveling buff activates automatically — passive XP boost for all alts.
- Grab starter gear from faction quartermasters — completing the main campaign on your first character unlocks Renown 2 for all factions, giving alts access to 4 pieces of 180 ilvl gear before they begin.
- Farm Delves from 81–88: Specifically Shadowguard Point or Grudge Pit — pull most mobs into one pack and AoE. Fastest XP per hour for solo alts.
- Turn in first-time Delve completions and first-time profession crafts at levels 88–89 for a massive XP burst right before the finish line.
- Full 80–90 alt run when optimized: ~4–5.5 hours.
Midnight replaces Valorstones with a new upgrade currency system called Dawncrests. There are five tiers of crests, each corresponding to a gear track. Every upgrade rank costs 20 Dawncrests of the appropriate type, with a weekly cap of 100 per crest type — meaning you can fully upgrade exactly one piece of gear per track per week.
The five gear tracks and their max item levels:
- Adventurer (max 237 ilvl): Outdoor content, Normal/Hard Prey, Delves tier 1–4.
- Veteran (max 250 ilvl): LFR raids, Heroic dungeons, Hard Prey, Delves tier 5–6.
- Champion (max 263 ilvl): Normal raids, Mythic 0 dungeons, Mythic+ 2–3, Nightmare Prey, Delves tier 7–8. Unlocks from Renown 7–9.
- Hero (max 276 ilvl): Heroic raids, Mythic+ 4–8, Delves tier 11.
- Myth (max 289 ilvl): Mythic raids, Mythic+ 9+. The Season 1 item level ceiling.
Upgrade gear at Cuzolth, the Item Upgrade Vendor in Silvermoon City (48.6, 62). You can also exchange higher-tier Dawncrests for lower-tier crests and vice versa.
The Great Vault is your most important weekly source of high item level gear. It resets every Tuesday and rewards you based on what content you completed the previous week. To maximize your vault:
- Dungeons: Complete 1 / 4 / 8 Mythic+ dungeons to unlock the first, second, and third Vault dungeon slots. Higher key levels = better Vault reward. Vault scales up to +18 in Season 1.
- Raids: Kill raid bosses to unlock Vault raid slots. More bosses killed = more choices and higher ilvl options.
- World activities: Complete Delves, World Quests, and World Events (not Prey — Prey has its own separate track). Unlocks up to 3 world activity slots.
You choose one item from all available Vault slots each reset. The Great Vault is the primary path to Myth-track gear early in the season. Never skip a week.
The most efficient gearing path for Season 1:
- Pre-Season 1 (March 2–17): Farm Renown to unlock Champion gear at Renown 7–9. Run Mythic 0 world tours. Push Delves to tier 8. Do 4 Hard Prey hunts per week. This gets you into Champion track gear before raids open.
- Season 1 Week 1 (March 17+): Run Normal and Heroic raids (Voidspire and Dreamrift). Push Mythic+ dungeons — M+7 gives Hero track end-of-dungeon loot. Fill Great Vault with as many slots as possible.
- Season 1 Week 2 (March 24+): Mythic+ opens. Farm M+10 for the best end-of-dungeon and Vault rewards. Myth track gear becomes available.

Midnight has four main Renown factions, each tied to a specific zone. Renown is capped at 20 ranks per faction, requires 2,500 reputation per rank, and is shared account-wide across your entire Warband — progress on one character benefits all your alts.
- Silvermoon Court (Eversong Woods): The aristocratic political faction of Quel'Thalas with four sub-factions — Blood Knights, Farstriders, Magisters, and Shades of the Row. Rewards include gear, profession recipes, cosmetics, and housing decor.
- Amani Tribe (Zul'Aman): Direct descendants of Zul'jin. Forced alliance against Xal'atath. Offers some of the most visually striking rewards — troll-themed mounts, weapons, and transmog.
- Haranir (Harandar): The ancient allied race faction. Unlocking the Haranir as a playable race requires completing this zone's campaign. Renown rewards include unique cosmetics tied to their bioluminescent aesthetic.
- Slayer's Duellum (Voidstorm): A PvP-focused faction formed from the chaos of the Void rift. Horde and Alliance pick opposing Domanaar warlords and fight for control of Slayer's Rise. Void-themed mounts, transmog, and endgame system unlocks.
Critical gear rewards: Renown 7–9 with each faction unlocks Champion track 246 ilvl gear — the most important early gearing milestone outside of Season 1 content.
Best ways to farm Renown: Main story quests and side quests are the fastest source. Weekly dungeon quest from Halduron Brightwing in Silvermoon (any difficulty, even Follower Dungeons) gives 1,500 rep. Bountiful Delves twice per week give a large reputation reward. Housing is available to anyone who owns the Midnight expansion. Here's how to get started:
- Step 1: Log in — the quest "A House For You" automatically appears. The intro questline takes about 15 minutes and unlocks your first home.
- Step 2: Choose your Neighborhood. Two options exist: Founder's Point (Alliance aesthetic, behind Silvermoon's Cathedral district) or Razorwind Shores (Horde aesthetic, Ghostlands coastline). Both are accessible to both factions. You can own one of each by having characters on both factions. You can move plots later without losing decor or progress.
- Step 3: Claim your plot. Neighborhoods are shared instances of approximately 55 plots with real other players. Public and private neighborhoods both exist — private neighborhoods require a minimum of 10 players.
- Step 4: Purchase your first home. Cost: 1,000 gold. No lottery. No bidding wars. No monthly upkeep fees. All decor is account-wide across your Warband.
- Step 5: Start decorating. Use freeform or grid-based 3D placement tools. Dye furniture, display raid trophies, and invite friends to help decorate in real-time.
Key facts: Your house persists if you unsubscribe — no repossession or decay mechanics. If you unsubscribe and return later, everything is exactly as you left it. Community bulletin boards, visiting NPCs, and weekly Neighborhood Endeavors make neighborhoods feel alive over time.
Decor comes from many sources and is collected account-wide — anything unlocked on one character is available to all your Warband:
- Professions: Tailoring, Leatherworking, Blacksmithing, and others craft tradeable furniture. Early in the expansion, crafted pieces sell for significant gold on the Auction House.
- Raids: The March on Quel'Danas drops prestige housing pieces from bosses — among the most valuable decor in Midnight.
- World drops: Rare mob drops that collectors specifically hunt.
- Achievements: Many housing items are tied to in-game achievements.
- Renown faction rewards: All four factions offer housing decorations throughout their Renown tracks.
- Vendors: Various NPCs throughout Quel'Thalas sell decor directly.
- Neighborhood Endeavors: Community-wide goals that unlock exclusive neighborhood-themed decorations.
- Auction House: Trade for pieces you haven't found yet. Community Coupons — a special housing currency — are earned through gameplay only and cannot be purchased with gold or WoW Tokens.
Tip: The HomeBound addon tracks every decor item in the game with 3D previews, sorted by source — essential for serious collectors.
The Arcantina is a magical tavern introduced in Midnight — described as a crossway for travelers and heroes at the crossroads of nowhere and everywhere. It serves as a social and quest hub where familiar faces from across WoW's history show up with stories and quests that send you back out into Azeroth.
For returning players specifically, the Arcantina is designed to help you reconnect with the game — you'll meet characters you know, get quests that ease you back into current content, and find a sense of continuity with the broader story. It also previously offered a portal shortcut to Silvermoon City, though this was changed in a post-launch hotfix to return you to your original location instead.
Within days of Midnight's launch, explorers discovered an inaccessible island called Atal'Utek off the coast of Quel'Thalas. Apex Talents are a brand-new tier of class-defining abilities introduced in Midnight — the pinnacle of each specialization's talent tree. They unlock as you level from 81 to 90 and represent the most powerful, identity-shaping choices in your build.
Here's the full breakdown:
- 10 new talent points total are earned leveling 80→90: +3 to your Class tree, +3 to your Hero Talents tree, and +4 to your Specialization tree — and those 4 Spec points go directly into your Apex Talents.
- 3-tier structure: Keystone (1 point, unlocks at level 81) → Middle Node (2 points, unlocks at 84 and 87) → Capstone (1 point, unlocks at level 90). Each rank meaningfully upgrades your core spec ability.
- Where to find them: Open your Talent Tree — they appear as a new branch at the bottom of your Specialization tree.
- Are they required? Technically optional, but in practice they're essential for Mythic+ and raid performance. Skipping them is always suboptimal at endgame.
- Examples: Unholy DK's Apex makes Army of the Dead trigger a plague storm for massive AoE. Devourer DH's Apex (called "Midnight") makes Collapsing Star always critically strike. Resto Druid's Apex causes Lifebloom to stack up to 3 times and splash healing to nearby allies.
Every one of WoW's 40 specializations gets a unique Apex Talent. The final rank arrives right as you finish the Voidstorm zone — your character peaks in power at exactly the moment the narrative climax hits.
Apex Talent ranks unlock automatically as you level — no reputation gates, dungeon prerequisites, or campaign requirements. Just level up:
- Level 81: Rank 1 unlocks (Keystone) — 1 talent point spent. Immediate power spike and new gameplay mechanic.

Mythic+ Season 1 starts on March 24, 2026 — one week after the Season 1 raid launch. This gap gives players time to gear through Normal/Heroic raids and Mythic 0 dungeons before keystones begin.

- 4 new Midnight dungeons: Den of Nalorakk, Majister, Maisara Caverns, and one additional new dungeon

Reward scaling in Season 1:
- M+2–3: Champion track crests (up to 263 ilvl)
- M+4–8: Hero track crests (up to 276 ilvl)
- M+9+: Myth track crests (up to 289 ilvl)
- Great Vault scales up to +18 in Season 1 (higher cap than previous seasons)
- End-of-dungeon loot at M+10 and M+11+ awards the same item level — no reason to push beyond +10 just for end-of-dungeon loot. Higher keys give more Myth crests for upgrading.
Best key level to farm: M+10 for efficiency. Aim for M+7 first to unlock Hero track end-of-dungeon loot, then push to +10 when your group is comfortable. Completing 8 M+ per week fills all three Great Vault dungeon slots.
Midnight completely overhauled transmogrification — the system that lets you customize your gear appearance. The core change: transmog is now slot-based instead of item-based. This fixes the most frustrating part of the old system.
The big changes:
- Slot-based attunement: You apply a look to a gear slot, not to a specific item. When you equip new gear, the new item automatically inherits your chosen appearance. No more re-transmogging every upgrade. No more "clown gear" look between content.
- Outfit Slots: You can save up to 50 full outfit presets. Start with 2 free slots; additional slots cost gold. Switching between saved outfits is unlimited and free (3-second cooldown). Drag outfits to your action bar for instant swaps.
- Situations (automated outfit switching): The headline new feature. Assign different outfits to trigger automatically based on activity — Raids, Dungeons, Arenas, Battlegrounds, Player Housing, Open World, Rest Areas, and more. You can look like a void-wreathed raider in Voidspire and automatically switch to murloc pajamas when you walk into your house.
- Reduced collection grind: Unlocking a higher-tier set appearance (e.g. Heroic raid) automatically grants you the lower-tier versions too (Normal, LFR). Massively cuts down farming needed for full collections.
- Fewer weapon restrictions: You can now transmog two-handed weapons into one-handed appearances and vice versa.
What's the cost? You pay gold once to define an outfit's look. After that, switching between outfits is free. The initial outfit creation cost was controversial at pre-patch launch — Blizzard reduced it by 50% in response to community feedback before full launch. Unlocking all 50 outfit slots costs significant gold total, but most players only need 5–10 slots.
Legacy outfits: All previously saved loadouts were automatically converted to "Custom Sets" during the pre-patch transition. Find them in the Custom Sets tab of the transmog interface.
Midnight went through a significant round of class pruning — deliberately removing abilities from many specs.
